You are not alone
Maybe you wake up and for just one moment — you forget. And then it all comes flooding back.

Grief is exhausting, isolating, and deeply disorienting. The world keeps moving, but you feel frozen in a moment that changed everything. You're not broken. You're not "taking too long." You are a human being carrying one of the heaviest things a person can carry.

And you deserve more than just surviving your grief. You deserve to gently, at your own pace, begin to heal.

Is this right for you?

Who this journey is — and isn't — for

Grief takes many forms. Whether you are mourning the death of someone you loved, the loss of a beloved pet, a pregnancy loss, a marriage, an identity, a friendship, or a season of life that is gone — if loss has left you searching for meaning, beauty, and connection again, this journey was created with you in mind.

✓ This is for you if…

  • You're grieving the loss of a loved one, relationship, pregnancy, season of life, or another deeply meaningful loss
  • You're ready to commit to 30 days of gentle daily practice
  • You crave community with others who truly understand
  • You're open to reflection and sharing, even on hard days
  • You want gentle structure, not a rigid program

✗ This may not be for you if…

  • You are in acute crisis and need immediate support
  • You're looking for a replacement for therapy
  • You're not able to commit to daily participation right now
  • You're not ready to reflect or share quite yet — and that's okay

If you're in crisis, please reach out to a mental health professional or the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

Mindfulness

Take a simple photo

Step outside — or look around you — and capture one image inspired by the day's theme. Your phone is all you need.

💬

Connection

Share in the private community

Post your photo and a brief reflection to the Facebook group. Witness others doing the same. Feel seen — and see others.

🌿

Over 30 days, these small moments compound. You begin to notice beauty again. You begin to feel less alone. You begin to heal.

Why photography helps during grief

Your camera can be a path to healing

When we experience grief, the brain can become overwhelmed and emotionally flooded. Many people feel stuck in loops of sadness, numbness, avoidance, or mental exhaustion. Photography gently interrupts that pattern.

The act of noticing light, color, texture, nature, symbolism, or meaningful moments helps shift the brain from emotional overwhelm into present-moment awareness and observation.

A form of mindfulness
Emotional processing
Meaning-making

Even taking photos with your cell phone can:

Support emotional processing
Encourage mindfulness and nervous system regulation
Increase awareness and presence
Reduce emotional avoidance
Help externalize emotions that are hard to verbalize
Create moments of beauty and meaning in difficult seasons
Reconnect you with yourself and the world after loss
Help you feel less alone

This isn't about taking perfect photos.
It's about healing.

This is a real commitment — and that's exactly the point.

Healing doesn't happen passively. It happens when we show up — gently, consistently, one day at a time. That's why this journey asks something of you, and why your $27 is a commitment deposit, not just a purchase.

  • 1Each day, receive your journal prompt and photography prompt by email.
  • 2Take a photo with your phone and write a brief reflection based on that day's prompt.
  • 3Upload your photo and reflection to the private Facebook community.
  • 4Show up for yourself — and for the community around you — for 30 days.

Gentle Flexibility

  • You may miss up to 3 days and still remain eligible for a refund
  • Missed reflections or photo posts may be made up anytime during the active 30-day journey

Still Welcome

  • If you miss more than 3 days, refund eligibility no longer applies
  • You are always welcome to continue the journey for your own healing

Refund guarantee: Complete the 30-day journey (missing no more than 3 days) and if you feel it wasn't worth it, your full $27 commitment deposit is returned upon written request. We believe in this journey — and in you.

Why it works

The gentle power of journaling + photography

Writing and image-making are two of the most time-tested, research-supported ways to process difficult emotions. Together, they invite you to slow down, notice your inner world, and reconnect with the world around you — even when it feels like that world has lost its color.

  • Process complex emotions at your own pace, in your own private journal
  • Reconnect with yourself and with beauty that still exists in the world
  • Calm your nervous system in moments of overwhelm using the Pulse Points Stress Tool
  • Build a daily ritual of reflection that anchors and steadies you
  • Begin finding meaning and small moments of hope — without forcing it
  • Feel less alone in your grief through genuine, supported community

Community

You will not walk this road alone

One of the most painful parts of grief is how isolating it can feel — like no one around you truly understands. Inside our private Facebook community, you'll find people who do understand.

A safe space built on compassion, not comparison

Each day, you'll share your photo and reflection with the group — and witness others doing the same. There's something quietly powerful about being seen in your grief, and about seeing others find beauty in theirs. This community doesn't just support your healing; it becomes part of it.

Licensed Clinical Counselor Nature Photographer Emotional Healing Educator Expressive Arts Therapy Certified

I'm a Licensed Clinical Counselor, emotional healing educator, nature photographer, and certified in Expressive Arts Therapy. Over the years, I've personally experienced how profoundly healing it can be to slow down, step into nature, and notice beauty again through the lens of a camera. My background in Expressive Arts Therapy deeply shaped the reflective and creative approach woven throughout this journey.

Photography has become more than a creative outlet for me. It's a spiritual practice. A nervous system reset. A way to reconnect with the present moment, process emotions gently, and find meaning even during difficult seasons of life.

Throughout my career, I've supported children, teens, and adults through grief and emotional pain in school settings, private practice, and community mental health. I've also facilitated grief workshops with children in Zambia, where I witnessed firsthand how creativity, reflection, and compassionate support can help people feel seen, safe, and connected in the midst of pain.

Over the years, I've even worked one-on-one with select clients using photography as a tool for mindfulness, emotional healing, reflection, and reconnecting with themselves and the world around them.

Healing Through the Lens was created by combining my background in emotional healing with the calming, grounding, and restorative power of photography, reflection, nature, and community.

What you'll need

Simple requirements — no experience needed

You don't need to be a writer. You don't need to know anything about photography. All you need is:

A smartphone with a camera
An email address
A Facebook account
A journal (any notebook works)
10–20 minutes per day

Frequently asked questions

Your questions, answered

The $27 is not just a program fee — it's a commitment deposit. It's your way of saying to yourself: "I am worth showing up for." Complete the 30-day journey (missing no more than 3 days) and if you feel it wasn't worth it, your full $27 will be refunded upon written request.
Each day you'll upload one photo taken with your phone along with a brief written reflection — your response to that day's prompt. It doesn't need to be polished or perfect. A few sentences is enough. The act of sharing — however small — is part of the healing process, and the community is there to receive it with warmth and compassion.
Life happens — that's why up to 3 missed days are built into the journey. You may make up missed reflections or photo posts anytime during the active 30-day experience.

Missing more than 3 days simply means refund eligibility no longer applies — but you're always welcome to continue the journey for your own healing.
Completers receive three bonuses: a discount toward future programs, automatic entry into an exclusive giveaway, and an invitation to a private graduation Zoom gathering to celebrate the journey with your fellow community members. These are our way of honoring the courage it takes to show up every day.
Yes — this journey was designed to gently support people in many different seasons of grief.

Some participants may be navigating a recent loss, while others may be carrying grief that has remained unresolved for years. Whether your loss is fresh or long-standing, you are welcome here.

The prompts are gentle and never forced. Some days you may engage deeply; other days you may simply show up with a simple photo and a few words. Both are completely valid.

There is no right timeline for grief, and no wrong way to heal.
Absolutely not. All you need is the camera on your smartphone. The photography prompts are not about taking beautiful photos — they're about learning to look. To notice. To find small moments of beauty and meaning in the everyday world around you. No filters, no skill level required.
It's a simple, clinically-informed mind-body-based technique using 8 pulse points on your hands and wrists, combined with focused awareness and slow breathing, to help calm your nervous system during moments of emotional overwhelm. It takes only a few minutes, requires no equipment, and can be used anywhere — in the car, before bed, in the middle of a hard moment.
No, and it's never intended to be. This program is a supportive, healing companion — not clinical treatment. If you are working with a therapist, this program can beautifully complement that work. This program works alongside therapy, not instead of it.
Because grief doesn't discriminate, and healing support shouldn't require a large financial commitment. This program was priced intentionally to be accessible to as many people as possible. And because of the refund policy, your financial risk is minimal. The only real investment is your time and your willingness to show up.

Don't wait

There's never a "perfect" time to start healing

Grief doesn't wait for a convenient moment — and neither should your healing. Every day you wait is another day without the support, community, and gentle guidance that's already here for you.
